Hi again. I really am so glad you are here!
You know, college has so much to offer - fun, growth, exploration, and education. I can remember feeling completely overwhelmed and unprepared for the experience. I was not taught how to study in high school. I never had to practice balancing demands. I had multiple people reminding to get stuff done. Managing stress back then was not what it is today. (Your world is FULL of stimulation and distraction, and the expectations and demands placed on you is almost unimaginable.)
Eventually, I figured it all out. I failed. I was humbled on many occasions. I changed majors twice. I underapplied myself. I chose a major that was a "back-burner" major. I made plenty of wrong choices. But, I built solid life skills along the way.
And, I KNOW FOR A FACT new college students are not 100% prepared for college life! I see it every day in this practice.
Do you think you are prepared to handle and cope with everything college brings to the table? Can you figure it all out on your own?
Are you able to handle tough situations and make tough decisions on your own? Are you self-reliant and resourceful? Can you balance twenty-five things at once and plan ahead for them all? Do you know how to set personal boundaries for the betterment of your academic life? What about executing every. single. task. required of you each day? How would you rate yourself on handling uncomfortable emotions like depression, fear, anxiety, anger, frustration (a whole new level of frustration)? What about your wellness?
These are the struggles you will be faced with in college. The more you can navigate these struggles with ease and success, they more effectively and efficiently you will manage college life and your overall well-being.
