Your coach
The journey of choosing professional collegiate coaching as a career began in 2016 for me.
We were preparing to send out last high schooler to college and I knew I wanted to do something different with my mental health (MSW) and teaching backgrounds.
I really liked the idea of helping students identify their strengths, values, and passions and use them when challenged in life.
I know the value of traditional therapy and counseling, but students and parents were asking for "other options" when their students were anxious, stressed, and overwhelmed.
At the time, mental health struggles on college campuses in our country were at an all-time high. Suicide rates were rising. Student wellness centers had waitlists for students who were experiencing anxiety and depression.
Students were struggling to thrive on their own.
I knew this was a self-management, self-regulation issue. It just made sense that if students arrived on campus with the life skills to support their thriving on campus, our country would not have waitlists on our college campuses because students could manage college life on their own with success.

As I built this coaching business and started seeing first hand how deficits in life skills were the cause for (some) anxiety and depression, I started the task of developing a foundational program to teach certain life skills to my student clients.
After two years of collecting observational data and applying strategies and techniques for success, Everything but Books - 8 Necessary Skills to SurTHRIVE Freshman Year of College was birthed.
I have been honored to connect with hundreds of college students and high school students across the country since 2016.
This is truly why I wake up every day - excited to help guide another student.
I currently have certifications in mental health first aid, mindfulness, trauma informed care, executive function coaching, and life and wellness coaching. I use components of all of these areas to support high-schoolers and college students live a balanced life of wellness, work, and fun on campus.
Outside of coaching, I am a mom, a wife, a sister, and daughter, a colleague, and a friend. I value fitness, nutrition, family, alone time, travel, nature, shopping, cooking, and writing (not reading).
